...And A New Song

Lord, our heart to You we bring
Overflowing with this theme
We recite our offering
About our King
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are fairer than all men
Grace is poured upon Your lips
Lord, You ride in righteousness,
Mercy, and truth
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And we worship You
We worship You
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Son of God, Risen King
We will never cease to sing
Lord, Your Name will be known
...always
Lamb of God, Clothed in Strength
We will never cease to praise
Lord, Your Name will be great
...always
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any beauty we possess
Lord, is given by Your grace
If Your desire is for us
Then here we are
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gird Your sword through endless days
You are mighty in your ways
We will, Lord, forget our name
To take on Yours
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And we worship You
Lord, we worship You
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Son of God, Risen King
We will never cease to sing
Lord, Your Name will be known
...always
Lamb of God, clothed in strength
We will never cease to praise
Lord, Your name will be great
...always
Scripture: Psalm 45
written March 3, 09
An Old Song...
In the beauty of a rainbow
There's something that whispers Your name
There's more than a promise
In those colors all aflame
They're singing about tomorrow
And beautiful things to come
pre-chorus:
I know that You are returning
That's why I'm always looking at the sky
Because I am longing
For that day when You arrive
chorus:
I want to see You, Jesus
I want to be with You
I can't wait for that day when You're coming
I want to hear Your voice
And walk with You
I can't wait for the day when You're coming back
When you come to take me home someday
To be with You for eternity
I will bow before Your mighty throne
And that's where I will stay
In the wonder of a sunrise
I feel Your Presence near
More than a new day
Your washing away the fear
And I'm catching a glimpse of Your glory
And beautiful things to come
In the power of the ocean
The waves are singing Your praise
More than a new song
Of all Your glorious ways
I'm dreaming about the future
And powerful things to come
A New Year
Faithful:adj 1 firm adherence to whatever one is bound to by duty or promise
syn allegiant, ardent, constant, loyal, resolute, steadfast, true...
rel dependable, reliable, trustworthy, affectionate, devoted, loving...
----------------------------------------------------
If there is anything that God has been this past year, this is it. And though this definition is beautiful and I love it, I believe that the traits of God cannot be fully defined by man. When I let human definitions shape God's ways my understanding always stops short, but when I allow Him to define what He Is, there is always more. I love it.
----------------------------------------------------------------
This past year has been amazing. I have learned so much, but through it all He constantly brings me to my knees because of how much I don't know. This year has been very much of a beginning for me. When I set out in Him, at every turn His reply was the same: "This is only the beginning; it does not stop here." Whether it be worship, prayer, communion, or anything else, "It is only the beginning; don't stop."
----------------------------------------------------------
As a new year begins, my thoughts are many and varied- but there is one thing that I know: God is Faithful. And I think that we need to pursue Him further, beyond human definitions, beyond human understanding, and allow Him to be more. He is ready, willing, and wanting to be to us all that He claims to be- we just need to let Him. He IS everything He claims to be, but so many times we stop short in our own finite understanding.
I love the way Eric Ludy states it:
"Don't pitch your tent"
That is exactly it; let us not pitch our tent in the wilderness or anywhere else for that matter, but let us press on the the fullness! Did you know that there is more? No, there is not more that we need to be saved---Jesus is all that we need to be saved, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."--- but you see, it is the grace that allows for more. There is more of Him; that is why we press on.
"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" -Phil. 3:14
If we are going to be called upward to be with Him, why do we press on? Why don't we just sit here and wait? I mean, we are "saved" man-we don't need anything else, just sit tight and be cool. We're going to heaven!
We press on because there is more to be attained while we are here on earth; He paid the price so that His kingdom could come to earth! The mystery was of His kingdom: "Christ in you, the hope of glory."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As this new year begins, it seems like it is going to be pretty crazy. So many things are happening around the world, Bible prophecies are being fulfilled, and to the world it only brings one thing: fear. They desperately search for security in the things we know are passing. The definition above is exactly what they so desperately want: something trustworthy, true, reliable, devoted, constant...
But we have the One who is faithful; our God is "the One who is holy, the One who is true."
Therefore, for us the future should only bring greater hope, greater joy, and greater peace... for we stand on the Rock.
"The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.The right hand of the LORD is exalted;The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.I shall not die, but live,And declare the works of the LORD."
-Psalm 118:16-17
"'Fear not, for I am with you;Be not dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you.Yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'"-Isaiah 41:10
"Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies."-Psalm 60:12
"Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage."-Psalm 84:5-6
"Truly my soul silently waits for God;from Him comes my salvation; He is my defense;I shall not be greatly moved." -Psalm 62:1-2
"Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion,Which cannot be moved, but abides forever."-Psalm 125:1
"Have you not known?"
-Isaiah 40
--------------------------------------------------
Well, I could keep going on and on, but I better stop now. Oh, and I'm going to put up this week's song a day early, because it goes along with all of this wonderfully. (It is a beautiful song.)
Have a happy New Year everyone!!!
Shelter- by Scott Cunningham
Recently I got Scott Cunningham's new album called 'Til The Whole World Hears, and there is a song on it that is just so beautiful. He sings it with his daughter Madison. I can't stop listening to it; I really like it. Here are the words:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shelter
-------------------------------------
Oh God, I need You. O God I need You here with me. I know You hear me. You're my hope all of my days. You're my hope all of my days.
Jesus, Savior,Protector of my soul, O Messiah, Redeemer, You're the Shelter in the storm.
O God, I love You. O God, I love to speak your Name. I know you hear me. You're my hope all of my days. You're my hope all of my days.
Jesus,Savior, Protector of my soul, O Messiah, Redeemer, You're the Shelter in the storm.
I'll be watching, waiting, till Your love comes back for me, and I'll be watching, waiting still, till Your love comes rescuing.
Jesus, Savior,Protector of my soul, O Messiah, Redeemer, You're the shelter in the storm.
Song
I added another song to the ipod, if you'd care to listen to it. It is called "Learning to Love" and I really like it. I heard about Jason Upton recently and listened to a few of his songs and this is the one I liked.
Come Away
And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God.
As God has said:
"I will dwell among them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people."
Therefore
"Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you."
"I will be a Father to you,
And you will be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty."
-2 Cor. 6:16-18
Come Away
How long, oh sons of men
Will you turn My glory to shame?
How long will you love falsehood,
And every worthless thing?
Don't you know that I am calling your name?
Come Away, Come Away
Come away with Me, My love.
Come Away, Come Away
Come away, My fair one.
I have set you apart
All for My glory
Let Me capture your heart
And make you holy.
Beloved, you are Mine.
I have loved you.
Yet you say, "How have You loved us?"
Oh, how you are blind.
Don't you know that I want all of your life?
Come Away, Come Away
Come away with Me, My love.
Come Away, Come Away
Come Away, My fair one.
I have set you apart
All for My glory
Let Me capture you heart
And make you holy.
(Scriptures: Psalm 4, Song of Solomon 2:10, Malachi)
Songs
Hey guys, I just put some new songs on the ipod, so make sure that you scroll through there and listen to them. One of them is a song we sang at CC Florence (Church On The Rock) last Sunday. It is called "Give Us Clean Hands", written by Charlie Hall. I love it; we should sing it at our church.
Three of them are Watermark songs that I had not heard before: Still and Holy Roar (I love those two), and Easter (which is Fairest Lord Jesus).
There are a couple more also, Sometimes by Step, Holy is the Lord, Walk Down this Mountain, and Great Light of the World.
So listen to them!
The Sweetest Song
I'm sure that you all have heard parts of the Sweetest Song. Maybe a bit of the refrain, or the first verse, or maybe you have only heard a portion of the harmony and never actually hit upon the clearest notes. The most amazing thing is that the more you listen to it, the sweeter it becomes! The One who wrote it is the most wonderful person you could ever, ever imagine and beyond. He is singing it now, and has been since the beginning of creation. If we sit down at His feet and be completely still, we can hear it! If we learn bits of it, we can even sing them ourselves---what could be more beautiful!?
It is a song of sacrifice and love beyond measure, and when we hear it, there is truly nothing that we can do but rejoice and sing right along with Him.
Jesus Himself is really the Sweetest Song!!
Here is a song about the Sweetest Song, which started all my thoughts on this subject:
~verse 1~
There is a song within my soul
A melody that won't grow old
Sung by the One who fills that empty hole
The Author of my life, the Maker of the world!
chorus:
The sweetest song is more that words could describe
It's music never fades 'cause He has paid the price
The clearest notes ring out when He is singing through my life!
There is nothing so pure, nothing so beautiful
As the sweetest song
~verse 2~
There is an ancient mystery
He's singing it so sweetly
It has been given to us that we'd know
The power of His love, He sent His Son to show!
~Chorus~
